Pilates Ab Crunch

Many people complain about low back pain. Although this can be the symptom of a medical problem, most often it is due to weak abdominal muscles, poor posture, or injury. Pilates method is a graduated movement system that strengthens the core muscles and improves flexibility and posture. It is frequently used for physical therapy and rehabilitation.

In this video, Caitlin demonstrates a Pilates ab crunch, focusing on engaging integral abdominal muscles, positioning of the navel, lower back and shoulders, and supporting the neck.

She recommends starting with one set of 10 crunches on each side and working your way up to three sets 2-3 times per week.

Our dedicated Pilates instructors work with you one-on-one to strengthen and elongate muscle groups that will keep your body mobile and decrease your risk of injury. If you experience persistent or increased back pain of any kind, you should always seek immediate medical attention.
